The clients specified that their home was to be fully functional allowing them to embrace the whole space. Previously split into four flats the property presented considerable challenges upon being transformed into a family home. Rather than looking at the house as a series of individual floors, we embraced the building’s prime feature, its height, cutting through the floors to radically transform the space and flood it with light. The open plan living and dining area incorporates a gallery at the back of the house which overlooks the basement kitchen and garden and features vast double height windows and library. The kitchen provides informal dining space with enough seating for family and friends and in the summer months entertaining spills outside onto the terrace. Upstairs, space has been optimised by vaulting ceilings to ensure even small rooms appear spacious. The panelling injects character back into the property and the bespoke furniture caters specifically to the clients tastes. With its double-height library, mirror TV, sunken trampoline and integrated AV system, this home has innovatively been brought into the 21st century.
