London Design Festival To Showcase Cutting Edge Interior Design

The 19th edition of the London Design Festival will take place from 18-26 September this year, and will feature a specially curated selection of the best of the world’s interior designers. The exhibition, simply titled ‘Design London’ is making its debut as part of the wider festival, and can be seen in the new Design District on Greenwich Peninsula.

Design London will run from 22-25 September, and will showcase international brands and emerging names from Italy, Denmark, France, and Japan, among others. Cutting-edge innovations from the world of interior lighting, furniture, and lifestyle will be on display, with some eagerly anticipated collections from the world’s most high-profile designers.

The event will take place in London’s first purpose-built Design District, in Greenwich Peninsula on the southeast shore of the River Thames. Described by Architectural Digest as ‘London’s youngest neighbourhood’, the area around the Millennium Dome is becoming a hub for the city’s creative community.

16 buildings which have been designed by eight different architects occupy an entire city block, to provide affordable workspaces for creatives, which is in short supply in central London. The low-rise, non-conformist, purpose-built studios are available on a blended-rents model, to encourage long-term occupancies.

Meanwhile, the wider London Design Festival will take place in 10 designated design districts around the city, and the work will aim to reflect the unique character of each district. Selected students and recent graduates, who have missed opportunities because of the pandemic, will be given a chance to make their mark on the sites.

The graphic identity of the whole festival has been designed since 2007 by the celebrated creative agency Pentagram. This year, their work is typography based, featuring bold dimensional designs in solid black, white, and red colours. Look out for a series of outdoor installations and special events across the capital during mid-September.
